黒袈裟の顕如上人が念珠をもって斜め右向きに畳に座られた「黒衣の御影」ともしようされた画像である。新しく表具されなおした時に裏書の痛みがひどく削除されたのかない、向って左方に東本願寺初代教如上人染筆の「顕如上人」の銘がある。
上部には、「教行信証」の 心至無上浄信暁 など四句の銘がある。
