The fan design is a picture of a bamboo, with red and white plum blossoms and a pine tree on the surface, a pattern that is considered a symbol of auspicious occasions. The sides and inside are decorated with seasonal flowers such as hishi (Japanese hollyhock), chrysanthemum, and gentian, in addition to the pine, bamboo, and plum patterns. Made of lacquer ware with nashiji maki-e lacquer.
